M14HOOPS SUCCESS STORY: Josh Ruggles
Congrats to Josh Ruggles on becoming the 3a and over all “King of the Hill” State Champion in the 3- point shooting contest held at the site of the IHSA boys basketball finals, Carver Arena in Peoria.
From Matt Miller: I told Josh if he won the state championship in the 3-point contest I would let the entire M14 Family know how proud we are of him; this is the 1st success story sent out about a player still in high school. Josh has been training with us for 2 years and is quickly becoming a recognized name in the state. He is currently in our high school academy and a pleasure to work with. I have absolutely 0 complaints in regards to his attitude, pace, work ethic and overall demeanor. He is a player I have to refuse to train throughout the year (so he can rest) because he does not believe in off days. He is self-motivated and a true competitor that I guarantee will max out on his potential as a basketball player. We currently are working with Josh to show him how to use his shot as one of his weapons; not the only weapon. With the way he handles the ball though, this will be one of the easier task we have had to do as trainers.
I’m extremely proud of him as he is taking all that he has learned and applying it (on and off the court). Josh is a great example of what hard work and dedication can do. Congrats to him and his family on this achievement and a great inaugural varsity season as a sophomore.
From Josh: “The M14 workouts have not only helped me improve my skill set, but they have also made me a smarter and mentally tougher player. The workouts are hard work, but they are so beneficial that I feel myself improving after every rep, every drill. These workouts have given me confidence and mental toughness, the same confidence and mental toughness that I needed to win the King of the Hill 3 Point Showdown. Next season, teams are going to know about my 3 point shooting ability, and I will be ready to do more than just shoot thanks to the M14 program.”

M14HOOPS SUCCESS STORY: Andrew Galow
Congrats to Andrew Galow on his outstanding college career at Rhodes College and being selected to the DIII National All-Star Game.
From Matt Miller: It has been a true privilege to have worked with Andrew Galow. His father was my sophomore coach while in high school and still one of the greatest basketball minds that I have ever been around. Being able to help his son out was extremely fulfilling as it was the only way I could pay back a small portion of what his father did for me. We worked with Andrew each summer after his freshman season in college on his attack dribble, offensive pick n roll, and his over all Point Guard IQ. To this date he is one of the hardest workers I have ever trained and it was not shocking to me that he was selected to the national all-star game. I will truly miss the phone calls after games/seasons to break down what happen and how to make it better. He is a true student of the game.
I’m extremely proud of him as he has taken all that he has learned and applied it in college (on and off the court). Andrew is a great example of what hard work and dedication can do. Congrats to him and his family on his achievements this season and good luck to him as he attempts to become a professional in Europe.
From Andrew: “Before M14 I had no understanding of handling the ball. I used my length and shooting ability to counteract my weakness as a ball handler. When I got to college, I wanted to become a true pg who understood the ball screen and was able to break down defenders in late shot clock situations. M14 gave me that and more. After all the summer workouts, I became a true pg with the complete understanding of ball screens and many different ways to attack a defender with a variety of change of speed moves. This led me to become the conference player of the year in the SAA and amass over 1,400 points in college .”

M14HOOPS SUCCESS STORY: Becky Williford
Congrats to Becky Williford on her outstanding freshman season at Roosevelt University (Chicago).
From Matt Miller: Becky was client #1 of M14Hoops. I started with her when she was a sophomore and she continues to train with us as well as help out with our summer camps. Becky tore her ACL going into the July evaluation period before her senior year. It was devastating; but she truly embodies everything this company stands for. Dedication, positive attitude and willingness to fight through adversity are all characteristics that Becky displayed and it is the reason she was able to step in as a freshman, run the show and make history for the Lady Lakers.
I’m extremely proud of her as she has taken all that she has learned and applied it in college (on and off the court). Becky is a great example of what hard work and dedication can do. Congrats to her and her family on her achievements this season!
From Becky: “M14 has boosted my confidence as a point guard and floor leader. Before I joined M14, my decision making as a pg was not where it should have been. However, Matt and the whole staff worked with me and incorporated various fundamentals and skills. M14 prepared me for collegiate basketball by teaching me when to make the right decisions on the court and how to handle the pressure from defenders. A huge weakness that I had when I first started was that I had no “flavor” as a pg–I was very one-dimensional. But over time, M14 has equipped me with moves that have helped to improve my game.”
M14HOOPS SUCCESS STORY: KEIERA RAY
Congrats to Keiera Ray on becoming National Player of the Week (first time in Ivy League history a player has won this award)
From Matt Miller: Keiera was client #2 of M14Hoops. I started with her when she was a sophomore and she continues to train with us as well as help out with our summer camps. Keiera and I worked day after day, hour after hour, year after year to change her game: in 8th grade she played the post, she now is the starting point guard for the University of Pennsylvania.
I’m extremely proud of her as she has taken all that she has learned and applied it in college (on and off the court). Keiera is a great example of what hard work and dedication can do. Congrats to her and her family on this achievement!
From Keiera: “I’ve been training with M14Hoops since I was a sophomore in high school. When I went to my first session with Matt I remember I could not dribble nor shoot. The first few sessions with Matt I didn’t even use the rim; I was doing ball handling drills for hours. Not to mention when I was transforming from guard to pg I had ‘passing sessions.’ I am thankful for M14 because it shaped me into the player I am today playing D1 college ball as the starting point guard for Penn. Without the program I would not be receiving these awards.”
